25-27 September 2025, Trabzon, Turkey

"When everything is a priority, nothing is a priority", Karen Martin.

The ninth edition of the “LivenARCH: Livable Environment and Architecture” congress, which was first held in 2001 and takes place every two years, will once again be hosted by the Department of Architecture at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) with the theme “LivenARCH IX-2025: PRIORITIES IN / OF ARCHITECTURE.

While the main theme of the congress, held biennially, is “Livable Environments and Architecture,” each congress presents a sub-theme for participants. The sub-theme for 2025 has been determined as “PRIORITIES IN / OF ARCHITECTURE”. In this context, the congress, which will be held between 25-27 September 2025, will open discussions on the concepts of “functionality”, “aesthetics”, “sustainability”, “durability and safety”, “cost-effectiveness”, “adaptability”, “cultural and social context”, “technological integration”, “accessibility”, “innovation and creativity”.

All discussions in the content of “LivenARCH IX-2025: PRIORITIES IN / OF ARCHITECTURE” should aim to answer the following questions:

Does architecture have priorities?

  • If architecture has priorities, what are they, and what are the reasons for them being priorities?
  • If architecture has priorities, which priorities does the discussion focus on?

Does architecture have not priorities?

  • If architecture does not have priorities, what are the reasons for their absence?
  • How does the discussion prove the absence of priorities in architecture?

LivenARCH IX-2025 invites researchers and practitioners from different disciplines, cultures, countries and generations to participate with their papers.
