LIVENARCH V-2017 FINAL DECLARATION
The Livenarch V-2017 International Congress was successfully held on September 28-30, 2017 by the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, KTU. We are proud and happy to have realized Livenarch ‘’LIVable Environment and ARChitecture’’, which was first held in 2001, after 8 years of break.
The congress which has been held up to 4 times has come up with different themes.
The theme of the Livenarch V is ‘’REJECTING/ REVERSING ARCHITECTURE’’. In other words, '' REFUSAL OF ARCHITECTURE / NON-EXISTING ARCHITECTURE / INVERSE READING OF ARCHITECTURE ''.
During the congress, it was aimed to discuss the architecture with different perspectives, namely 'inverting' – ‘inverse reading' - 'reverse building' or 'displacing' the existing architectural knowledge that existed up to now. This goal has been achieved with the reports submitted and the discussions made afterwards.
5 people, who have valuable works in their field, contributed as guest speakers. Thanks to Professor Dr. Sonay ÇEVİK, Prof. Dr. Şengül ÖYMEN GÜR, MSc. Murat KADER, Prof. Spiro POLLALIS and Prof. Dr. Gülsün SAĞLAMER.
32 professors from different fields of study took part in the Science Council. We are grateful to all of them for giving us time and their contributions.
The congress was held in 9 sub-themes for a total of 12 sessions over 2 days. These themes are as follows:
32 papers were presented at the congress. Along with multiple authors, 52 people with papers participated. A total of 410 people participated in the Livenarch V International congress, together with invited speakers, contributors and audiences. If it is thought that the large majority of the audiences were the students of the Faculty of Architecture, I can say, with great pleasure, that the congress reached its goal.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the friends who participated in the congress and participated in the organization team. We are also grateful to all congressional chairs and organizational members who have been involved in the organization of previous Livenarch congresses, that they have left us with such a legacy.
I hope that this heritage will continue uninterrupted from now on.
In the hope of seeing again at the Livenarch VI-2019 congress...
Prof. Dr. İlkay ÖZDEMİR
